June 6, 1944: The Greatest Battle of All Time. The D-Day: 75th Anniversary Collection (Six-Coin Box) commemorates this historic day with World War II coins from six countries involved in the D-Day invasion: Belgium, Canada, France, Great Britain, Germany, and the United States. On this day 75 years ago, under General Dwight D. Eisenhower's command, Allied forces launched the Normandy invasion, marking the beginning of the end of World War II in Europe.

Eisenhower’s meticulously planned Operation Neptune saw the deployment of around 5,000 ships, 11,000 planes, and 150,000 men, making it the largest and most complex military operation ever. A clever disinformation campaign deceived Hitler into expecting an invasion at Calais, while inclement weather delayed the actual Normandy invasion by 24 hours, further misleading the Nazis. The initial paratrooper drops and the subsequent dawn landings at Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno, and Sword beaches secured a crucial foothold for the Allies.

The Nazis were caught off guard, and by the time German General Erwin Rommel arrived, the battle—and arguably the war—was lost. With the Normandy beachhead secured, the Allies pushed forward, liberating Paris by August and defeating Hitler within a year.

This coin set comes in a special wooden box, complete with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) and a story card, offering a poignant tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of the Allied forces on D-Day.

Upon the explained test(s) results, nondefective items may be subject to a 20% restocking fee.
